At the age of three, Zolan was inspired by the inner voice that said he would be a “fine artist” one day. Guided by angels throughout his life, it was only a matter of time when Zolan would create a collection of Celestial Angels. Harp Song, considered a classical masterpiece, radiates in a soft heavenly glow representing Zolan’s belief in the goodness and grace that angels bring to the world. In 1998, Guidepost Magazines published Zolan’s inspirational story, Answer in the Stillness.

Garden of Dreams is the first painting in the Little Garden Angels’ Collection. If not painting, Zolan’s second passion in life was his love of the outdoors and nature. And, when he was not in his studio, he could be found outside taking care of his gardens. His love for flowers and plants and his own gardens inspired him to create a whimsical series of little angels in beautiful garden settings.

A Child’s Faith is a classic Zolan painting style influenced from his earlier period of children paintings where the focus is solely on the child. Zolan said many times that “A Child’s Faith portrays that special moment when the words find their way to a child’s heart”. Inspired by his early years at Lutheran school, bible studies were a part of the curriculum. Zolan later reflected, “I clearly remember when the words came alive and became a part of me. That is the moment when faith is born and the realization of how precious the spiritual gifts are.”

Commissioned by a collector for a licensing program, there are only a handful of Zolan religious paintings in his repertoire. After 1985, Zolan’s focus was painting children which would be his main subject for the rest of his life. In the painting of The Blessing, Zolan portrays the innocence and tenderness of childhood and how we are all God’s children and remain so no matter the age.
